Shades of Grey - 40"WX54"H ($800)

This quilt was a continuation of my efforts to dismantle my family’s clothing and to incorporate the fabric into a quilt. I love the spontaneous cutting I used in this quilt and the creation of soft edged geometric forms, which resulted from this technique. I also relished connecting colors across the quilt as well as trying for a more randomized color spread vertically. Again the softened nature of the worn fabric and the gentle bubbling of different sections of the quilt create the sense of the quilt being inhabited by a body. Monochromatic color explorations can be great fun and I look forward to making more larger art quilts like this one. The title resulted from my growing appreciation of the “grey’ areas in life, which seem to expand as I age. Life is less black and white with each passing day.
